Suiker Unie to present new strategy under a new name on 2 July
Suiker Unie will announce a new strategy and a new name on 2 July. ‘With the new strategy we can respond to changing consumer demands and new opportunities in the market with a future-proof name,’ says Paul Mesters.
Over the past 100 years, Suiker Unie has grown from a small group of beet farmers into the most efficient sugar producer in Europe and a major player on the world market. Every day, Suiker Unie and its 9,000 growers get the best out of the beet, much more than just sugar. We look upon the beet as a source of innovative solutions, including food, animal feed, protein from beet leaves, biobased applications and green energy.
‘In view of the growing world population and the declining resources, we need new circular and innovative solutions. By not producing any waste, the sugar beet is completely circular,’ explains Paul Mesters. ‘For many years we have been the biggest green energy producer in the Netherlands and have been extracting vegetable proteins from beet leaves’. We will continue on this path going forward. Last year we adapted our strategy to match our new ambition. Both form the basis for the new name, a new identity.
At 16.00 hours on 2 July 2020, Suiker Unie will adopt a new name. You can follow developments surrounding the new name and corporate identity on our website and social media.
